HTS Specialist - Tariffs
Researches current harmonized tariff codes from database and verifies accuracy of classifications. Parts to be reviewed include automation components, fasteners, wiring components, cutting tools, processing tools, press die components and other various machine components.
Responsible for assigning Customs Tariff classifications and required Trade documents to all new merchandise to be imported
Review current items from harmonized tariff database and verify accuracy (approximate 1 million parts)
Assist with Global HTS database project that will involve Japan HQ and other international subsidiaries.
Make recommendations on future classification processes
Provide statistical reports as needed
Other duties as assigned by the Managers
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Prospect candidate to apply for Customs Brokers License is preferred
Strong Excel Experience
Knowledge of Harmonized tariff code and Schedule B;
Minimum two years of logistics experience required.
Knowledge of customs rules and regulations;
Must be detail oriented, resourceful, and have good organization skills.
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Excellent problem solving, interpersonal and conflict management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel: pivot tables, vlookups, etc. Access)
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
