Project Engineer - Electro-Mechanical and CAD
Identify product needs and implement manufacturing of components and systems at North American manufacturing facilities or supplier factories.
Work collaboratively with Sales team and Product Management to identify gaps in manufacturing capabilities and opportunities to develop new products.
Define all technical requirements of the products for the manufacturing team.
Develop New Product Introduction plan for launch of products at the manufacturing facilities or supplier locations and ramp up to full production rate.
Prepare manufacturing equipment and processing to support production goals.
Make and perform technical presentations to design engineering groups, sales teams, and manufacturing as a subject matter expert clearly and confidently.
Provide product and design support to increase usage in customer designs.
Travel requirements – regular domestic travel, typically in the Midwest.
Provide technical design support and education both internally and externally on products including materials, fits, tolerances, lifespans, engineering calculations, sizing, CAD models, website, and functions via phone, email, and internal training.
Handle large, custom, and competitor cross-over quoting opportunities between customers and internal departments (domestic and overseas) to capture new business.
Ensure compliance to quality and work if needed with the customer service and procurement on quality claims.
Maintain some product databases, website contents, and catalog product information for accuracy and changes.
Other responsibilities may include supplier and manufacturing development, manufacturing kaizen, product development, or as needed by the organization.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
1-3 years of relevant experience.
Sizing and specifying electromechanical assemblies with assembly and programming capabilities.
Knowledge of basic manufacturing processes and equipment, including machining, sheet metal fabrication, material properties and selection, and latest technologies as they apply to assembly and fabrication processes.
Excellent problem solving, interpersonal and conflict management skills.
Working knowledge of 3D CAD, Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) CRM software, VB, VBA (plus).
Strong verbal/written communication skills.
