Senior Manager of Web Development - Ecommerce

Job Description :

The Senior Manager of E-Commerce is responsible for leading and managing the web development team, directing the day to day activities to maintain standards of quality excellence, timeliness, and efficiency, all while achieving and exceeding our clients’ goals. The Senior Manager of E-Commerce will work closely with project managers, strategists and design team members at Headquarters.


 


 The perfect candidate will have in-depth knowledge on a variety of procedures including mobile, responsive design, eCommerce, UX / UI, information architecture, and extensive experience in website development using PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3. 


 


Job Responsibilities: • Ensure the timely execution of web development projects according to plan. • Provide detailed information and cost estimates to assure accurate data on which to plan and develop functional objectives and budgets leading to stable and profitable accounts. • Cooperate with the account management team to ensure cohesion of departments with clients/ services. • Assure appropriate development strategies are incorporated, quality code is/can be delivered, must provide accurate of input for scoping new projects, maintain proper schedules, hit budgets, provide business development support and occasionally provide client presentations. • Supervise team; oversees their execution of efforts to ensure they are delivering quality work, on strategy, on budget, and on schedule. • Provide technical direction and know-how to the cyclical deployment of website updates. This includes leading with best practices to ensure minimum disruption during refresh launches, which will include written deployment plans and schedules created in conjunction with the Vice President. • Write code as needed for the deployment of the university website, and other related projects. • Coordinate code projects that include multiple developers, including the Director’s own coding work. • Develop standard Web assessment reporting by identifying relevant metrics found in analytical data and presenting those data in a monthly report to key stakeholders. • Provide strategic and technical leadership to continually improve organic web traffic though SEO and other best practices. • Work with vendors, the other members of the Web Planning team, and user experience designing team to create and maintain a secure website that minimizes or eliminates exploitable code and is hosted with top-tier security protocols. • Other duties as assigned. 


Required Qualifications :
Qualified candidates should have the following competencies: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

 

 • 10+ years manager-level role in web development, technology, front-end design, and usability 

 

• Proven track record of leading projects from concept to completion, applying best practices with the ability to prioritize and creatively problem-solve 

 

• Ability to develop under constraints and stay current with changing technology

 

 • Ability to think strategically and stay on top of execution 

 

• Strong knowledge of tools and technologies such as HTML, CSS, PHP, Javascript, etc • 

 

Programming experience in various languages and frameworks, such as PHP, SQL, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, RESTful APIs. The ability to clearly and accurately communicate the production and deployment process of a web project to a diverse group of stakeholders in low-technical terms.

 

 • Proven understanding and experience in the visual and design web technologies, such as: online video playback (players and compression), web fonts, web-friendly image formats, etc. • 

 

Proven understanding of UX, IA and UI best practices and the ability to stay abreast of current trends in web interface design.

 

 • A deep understanding of responsive design. • A deep understanding of Website security. • Familiarity with agile development methodology • Strong development knowledge of the ecommerce / online retail space, CRM integrations (Dynamics CRM, Marketo etc), shopping engines, and complex integrations. 

 

• Firm understanding of data interchange formats (XML and JSON) • Experience with caching and other website performance technologies/services • Ability to supervise, train and mentor employees, including organizing, prioritizing and managing timelines
