Job Description :

We are looking for a hands-on VP of Engineering / Engineering Lead to be an integral piece of the Engineering leadership team. Reporting to the CTO/Co-Founder and collaborating with senior leadership, you will lead engineering development and process across many initiatives that will ensure the company continues its market leading position. You will work with your peers from other parts of the business to build continuous value for the business. You will oversee and contribute to multiple programming languages .Net, Python and others to help scale an emerging VR SaaS and information platform. This role will require a leader who can be an effective recruiter, team builder, promote a collaborative team culture, and ignite passion within the team to build a world-class platform and products. This role has both a technical component leading aspects of architecture and design as well as a leadership position building a high performing team.

  • Improve, optimize and drive scalability for VR Saas platform

  • Lead a team of 16 game and software engineers by building an engineering culture and approach that keeps us nimble, pragmatic, high performing and can support the quality and scale needs of our platform

  • Maintain and expand upon knowledge of multiple languages, frameworks, tools, devices, applications and their capabilities.

  • 25-50% hands-on and the rest leadership & management responsibilities

  • Able to jump in where ever needed on a technical or leadership basis to make sure our engineering efforts are setup to succeed

  • Participate as a hands on technical leader helping define architecture and contribute to technical design conversations based off of product roadmap

  • Continually improve and optimize the product development process to ensure engineers are delivering value on a consistent, timely manner.

  • Contribute to the leadership of our quality assurance team, processes and technical support operations for our platform

  • Set and manage engineering expectations with team leads and work closely with product management peers.

  • Manages a lightweight process for engineering career paths and career growth 

Required Qualifications :

Skills Required:

  • 10+ numbers of years in software development in NET preferably at a SAAS company growth stage company.

  • 8+ years of experience owning, managing and growing engineering teams in a growth environment – comfortable being hands in coding and team leadership

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and ability to work with data and content workflows, offline/asynchronous processing

  • Ability to inspire and motivate others by leading from the front, by example

  • Experience with 3D technologies, graphics programming/development and testing

    (UDK, Unity3D, WebGL, etc.) and interest in Virtual Reality

  • History of Engineering leadership and the ability to drive engineering accountability

  • Can communicate effectively across product groups and other functional areas, including the executive team

  • Track record of owning engineering organizations and being accountable for their direction and results

  • Cares about software quality and scale with the ability to determine when more or less of either is needed in the right situation

  • Focuses on driving continual customer/user value and supports the sales teams to grow the company

  • Participates in Info Security initiatives

  • Can participate in technical discussions and architecture conversations as a hands

    on contributor or sounding board

  • Adept at leading engineering teams through resource constraining situations where good decision making is paramount
